Subject Description

This is an intensive subject continuing development of the ability to speak, read and write Indonesian begun in 110-165 Indonesian Level 1A. Students should achieve a basic communicative competence in Indonesian; have developed a sound basis for further Indonesian language study; and have developed 'Asia-literacy' and an empathy with Indonesian people and culture.

Generic Skills

  • acquire written communication skills through essay writing and seminar discussion;

  • show attention to detail through essay preparation and writing;

  • acquire time management and planning skills through managing and organising workloads for reccommended reading, essay and assignment completion;

  • acquire public speaking skills through tutorial and seminar discussion and class presentations.

Assessment

Three written tests 30% (due early semester, mid-semester and late semester), three essays of 330 words 30% (due early semester, mid-semester and late semester) and a 2-hour written final examination 30% (due during the examination period) and continuous class participation 10%. Students are required to attend a minimum of 80% of all classes in order to be eligible to take the examination.
