Subject Description

This subject will further develop the range of students' listening and speaking skills; expand their experience of Chinese prose styles; and improve their ability to communicate in written Chinese.

Generic Skills

  • acquire written communication skills through essay writing and seminar discussion;

  • acquire time management and planning skills through managing and organising workloads for recommended reading, essay and assignment completion;

  • show attention to detail through essay preparation and writing;

  • acquire public speaking skills through tutorial and seminar discussion and class presentations.

Assessment

Short tests and/or assignments 25% (commencing 2nd week and before the end of semester), an oral test 20% (due during the examination period), a listening and comprehension test 20% (due during the examination period), a final examination 25% (due during the examination period) and continuous class participation 10%.
