The School of Nursing offers an innovative honours program of intensive research training that develops graduates who contribute to the development of clinical research in nursing, improve patient outcomes and further the profession.
The program objective is to help students acquire the knowledge, skills and scholarship necessary for achieving excellence in nursing research. The program provides students with opportunities to learn the intellectual background, ethical principles and content areas of nursing as an academic discipline and to acquire the skills for students to:
critically analyse existing knowledge about a research topic prior to own research;
construct a research plan to address the students' own research questions;
execute their own research plan adequately to obtain data;
analyse data to address research questions;
discuss the implications of the results coherently within the contxt of exisiting knowledge relevant to the research topic.
