Subject Description

This subject focuses on creating an interactive web site, utilising HTML, Dynamic Hypertext Mark-Up Language (DHTML), Flash, streaming rich media (MP3, QuickTime), basic Javascript and other programming languages/environments of choice. Students will develop their own project-based web sites and be encouraged to examine their work from technical, aesthetic and critical perspectives. Relevant developments in on-line environments will also be discussed and explored.

Generic Skills

  • demonstrate sound and independent critical and ethical thinking in their choice of materials and processes;

  • be able to present written and oral communication to a professional standard regarding their treatment and material choices.

Assessment

Students will complete a design plan equivalent to 1000 words 25% (due week 7) and a major project with accompanying documentation equivalent to 3000 words 75% (due week 12.) These will be self-initiated in consultation with the lecturer. A hurdle requirement of a minimum 80% attendance required.
