Subject Description

Students will acquire a knowledge of their rights and obligations and the processes involved in establishing and maintaining a career in music. The subject will be delivered by a range of professionals practising in music-related areas such as the law, accountancy, the commercial world, medicine, psychiatry, librarianship, sound recording and production, arts administration, arts management, entrepreneurial activities, music criticism and instrument making and by professional musicians involved in academic, orchestral or solo careers, composing, conducting and studio-based teaching.

Assessment

Career-plan of 500 words (20%); essay of 1500 words (50%); regular participation and class assignments (30%).
