Subject Description

An introductory study in which students will form a technical, artistic and cultural appreciation of Western music to c. 1800. Through diverse learning modes, students will develop fundamental skills in score reading, analysis, aural perception, and the rudiments of melodic, contrapuntal and harmonic organisation of sound.

Assessment

Four essays and regular tests in listening and writing equivalent to 4000 words.
