Subject Description

This subject gives students an understanding and tools to evaluate processes within the workplace and methods to improve their effectiveness and productivity.

Generic Skills

  • Effectively investigate a problem and provide solutions;

  • Build initiative through self-directed studies and tasks;

  • Develop the capacity to effectively and efficiently analyse problems and develop solutions.

The subject covers the areas of:

  • What to improve, "top-down" planning;

  • Solving the Problem;

  • Waste and Down-time Measuring Process Performance;

  • Technology Improvement;

  • Plant and Process Trials.

Assessment

A 2,000 word written assignment (value 55%) and 6 Workbook self-directed projects/activities (45% total).
