Subject Description

This subject is taught in Swedish and gives an overview of Swedish society from the first evidence of written language to the medieval period and focuses on the nature and content of runic writing. On completion of this subject, students should have developed an understanding of Viking history in Scandinavia and its influence on other European societies and cultures.

Assessment

A 1-hour examination 25%; a research essay of 3000 words end of semester 75%.
