Subject Description

This subject builds on skills acquired in Beginners Swedish, and focuses on reading, writing, vocabulary and grammatical structure, making use of a number of different types of texts. Thereby, students will gain an increased understanding of Swedish in an extended variety of written contexts. Students will expand their vocabulary to a moderate level of complexity in the speaking, aural understanding, reading and writing of Swedish. On completion of the subject, students should have achieved the level of competence required for admittance to 126-066 Intermediate Swedish C and 126-067 Intermediate Swedish D.

Generic Skills

  • have further developed speaking and listening skills;

  • be able to express themselves in a variety of contexts;

  • be able to work efficiently as a team member and have an understanding of social and cultural diversity.

Assessment

A 2-hour written examination 40% (end of the semester), weekly assignments totalling 1000 words 30% (throughout the semester), and a 1-hour test and regular language tests 30% (during the semester).
