Subject Description

This subject builds on skills acquired in Beginners Swedish, and focuses on the spoken language in particular. Students will acquire communicative skills to express themselves in different types of situations, and will also gain an increased understanding of spoken Swedish in a variety of contexts. Emphasis will also be placed on the structure of Swedish so that students will speak Swedish with an increasing level of ease and correctness. On completion of the subject, students should have achieved the level of competence required for admittance to 126-066 Intermediate Swedish C and 126-067 Intermediate Swedish D.

  • have further developed speaking and listening skills;

  • be able to express themselves in a variety of contexts;

  • be able to work efficiently as a team member and have an understanding of social and cultural diversity.

Assessment

A 20-minute oral examination 50% (end of the semester), listening comprehension tests 25% (during the semester), and oral presentations 25% (during the semester).
