Contact | This subject is taught by distance delivery, it is expected that students will work for 4 hours a week with the supplied materials (ie. equivalent to 4 hours of classroom tuition per week). In addition, students are expected to work approximately 3 to 4 hours per week with preparation and follow-up on assignments and related work |
Subject Description | This subject is offered on-line and builds on skills acquired in Beginners Swedish, or equivalent. It focuses on reading, writing, vocabulary and grammatical structure, making use of different types of texts and tasks. Thereby, students will gain an increased understanding of Swedish in an extended variety of written contexts. Students will expand their vocabulary to a moderate level of complexity in different modes of expression, ranging from receptive to productive language (eg reading, listening, writing, discussing). On completion of the subject, students should have: developed an increased understanding of written Swedish in a variety of contexts; acquired written communicative skills for expressing themselves with an increasing level of ease and correctness; achieved the level of competence required for admittance into 126-066 Intermediate Swedish C and 126-067 Intermediate Swedish D. |

Assessment | Written work totalling 4000 words comprising: an exploratory tasks of 1000 words 30% (due during semester), reading comprehension tests of 1000 words 30% (during semester), a 2-hour on-line final exam including composition, grammar and vocabulary 40%. |
