110-408 Chinese Translation Project

Formerly available as 110-059. Students who have completed 110-059 are not eligible to enrol in this subject.

Admission to the postgraduate diploma or fourth-year honours in Chinese. Prospective students must contact the subject coordinator.

This subject involves an independent translation of a Chinese text equivalent to approximately 4000 words in English translation. Students will be asked to submit an English translation of a Chinese text, chosen by the student and approved by the supervisor, by the end of first semester. By the end of the subject students should have become familiar with the techniques and standards of literary translation, and be able to incorporate them into their theses.

• acquire time management and planning skills through managing and organising workloads.

A translation project of 5000 words 100% (due at the end of semester).
