Subject Description | This subject focuses on Chinese theatre in contemporary China and the study of important chapters of selected Chinese scripts. In practical classes, students will learn and practise basic skills necessary for performing the various roles in the scripts studied in lectures. By the end of the subject, students should be able to demonstrate improved skills in the performance of Chinese plays, in reading and analysing Chinese dramas, and an understanding of the major developments in the Chinese theatre in contemporary China. |

Assessment | A short essay of 1000 words for 2nd year and 2000 words for 3rd year 50% (due at the end of semester), a class work of 2000 words 15% (due mid-semester), a 10-minute oral test 10% (due at the end of semester) and a 20-minute role play performance 25% (due at the end of semester). |
