Subject Description | In this subject students will learn to discuss, read and write with confidence about any topic, including those at a more abstract level. Students will also be presented with an overview of major current events and political and social developments in Indonesia. Students should acquire some familiarity with modern Indonesian literature through the reading of poetry and short stories. |

Assessment | A 1.5-hour examination 40% (due during the examination period), a 5-minute oral examination 10% (due during the examination period), four essays of 500 words each 40% (due early semester, mid-semester and late semester) and continuous class participation 10%. Students are required to attend a minimum of 80% of all classes in order to be eligible to take the examination. |
