Subject Description

This is an advanced subject in which students learn to discuss, read and write with confidence about a wide variety of topics in Indonesian. Indonesian reading materials include a variety of short literary texts and articles about current events in Indonesia.

Generic Skills

  • acquire written communication skills through essay writing and seminar discussion;

  • show attention to detail through essay preparation and writing;

  • acquire time management and planning skills through managing and organising workloads for recommended reading, essay and assignment completion;

  • acquire public speaking skills through tutorial and seminar discussion and class presentations.

Assessment

A 1.5-hour examination 40% (due during the examination period), a 5-minute oral examination 10% (due during the examination period), four essays of 500 words each 40% (due early semester, mid-semester and late semester) and continuous class participation 10%. Students are required to attend a minimum of 80% of all classes in order to be eligible to take the examination.
