Subject Description | This subject involves the reading of literary and non-literary texts; further work on grammar and syntax; translation exercises; and Ancient Greek literary criticism. Students should complete the subject having read a number of Ancient Greek texts in the original; consolidated their knowledge of grammar and syntax; and extended their vocabulary through texts in a variety of styles and genres. |

Assessment | For 1st, 2nd and 3rd year students: Weekly translations tests, equivalent to 750 words 10% (held each week throughout the semester), weekly tutorial exercises, equivalent to 1250 words 25% (due each week throughout the semester), a 1-hour assessment test, equivalent to 1000 words 25% (held in the middle of the semester), a 1-hour examination, equivalent to 1000 words 30% (held during the examination period), and tutorial participation 10% (assessed throughout the semester). For 4th year students: Weekly translations tests, equivalent to 750 words 10% (held each week throughout the semester), weekly tutorial exercises, equivalent to 1250 words 20% (due each week throughout the semester), a 1-hour assessment test, equivalent to 1000 words 20% (held in the middle of the semester), a 1-hour examination, equivalent to 1000 words 20% (held during the examination period), a research assessment task of 1000 words 20% (due during the examination period), and tutorial participation 10% (assessed throughout the semester). |
