Subject Description | In this subject students will examine various practices of character construction in a range of forms, including fiction, narrative, poetry and script. Analysis will focus on theories of representation, specifically how the dynamics of monologue, dialogue and polyphony work to construct and deconstruct the reading and recognition of character and subject. Students will engage with the creative work of writers from a variety of cultures and write, perform and workshop detailed pieces within the class unit. |
Assessment | Creative work (or equivalent) to 5000 words for fourth year and 4000 words for third year, including a reflection/analysis of theoretical assumptions in the creative work presented. |
Prescribed Texts | A subject reader will be available. |
