Prerequisites | For third-year students 760-238 Visual Arts: Tools Totems and Talismans and either 760-237 Visual Arts: Myth and Narrative or 760-236 Visual Arts Re-appraising the Figure (prior to 2003), 12.5 points of second-year visual arts studio practice or equivalent. For fourth-year students 12.5 points of third year visual arts studio practice subjects or equivalent. |

Subject Description | The subject introduces installation art forms such as, site specific art, process art, art in public places, earth works, event and visual performing art. Through practical application, students will also be encouraged to examine contexts for their work such as the relationship between art and architecture, and art practice and contemporary environmental concerns. Students will research and examine these relationships from both historical and contemporary contexts and will create a work which represents a thorough examination of the research issues and the use of appropriate materials, techniques and processes. With approval, some students majoring in two- and three-dimensional work may wish to collaborate on a single project. |
Assessment | Practical projects equivalent to 3500 words, visual and written documentation of research equivalent to 500 words and participation in practical workshops. A minimum of 80% attendance (hurdle requirement). |
