Subject Description | Lecture topics and subject content will be selected from the following: Dante Gabriel Rossetti and the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood; Joris-Karl Huysmans, Symbolism and the Theories of Mario Praz and Carlo Lentricchia; Antoni Gaudi and Alternative Architecture; Albert Gleizes, Jean Metzinger, Pablo Picasso and Cubism; Tristan Tzara and the Dadaist Spirit of Revolt; Andre Breton, Surrealism and the Psychology of the Imagination; Art and the Impact of Photography; Clement Greenburg, Kitsch and Pop Art; Jackson Pollock, Carl Jung and Abstract Expressionism; Feminism and Frida Kahlo; Francis Bacon and Existentialism; Irving Goffman and the Sculptural Tableaux of the 1970s. |
Assessment | A seminar presentation of up to one hour equivalent to 1500 words on a selected topic; and submission of a research paper of 2500 words. |
