Subject Description | This subject involves a study of the theatre of Bertolt Brecht including the acting theory, the plays, the Berliner Ensemble, critical reception, contemporary adaptations and debates about the Brechtian legacy. The emphasis is on Brecht as a model for the integration of theory and practice through the notion of the rehearsal as an experimental/social laboratory. Consideration is given to the historical distance between Brecht's times and the present and its influence on contemporary theatre practice. |
