Subject Description | The ability of raster-based geographic information systems to analyse and manage environmental data is explored using application to environmental problems. Aspects of data acquisition, secondary data generation, factor combination and GIS-based modelling are introduced as aids to environmental decision making. Links are made between GIS and decision support tools to map land suitability, viewsheds, catchments, etc. |
Assessment | A series of weekly problems (30%), a final project not exceeding 2000 words (40%), and a two-hour examination (30%). |
