Contact | Five hours of lectures and studio work a week. Approximately 50% of the contact hours are dedicated to project work designed to develop appropriate analytical, design and graphic communication skills. Attendance at two half-day excursions at times to be stated at the start of the semester |
Subject Description | This studio-based subject explores landscape and urban design principles and processes at the scale of a whole neighbourhood. Students will be asked to investigate the urban fabric and a set of inter-related open spaces, as well as to explore their potential social and environmental contribution at a local and a strategic level. Students will be exposed to further aspects of the design process, including the design development of a strategically targeted site. The symbolic dimension of spatial design in the public realm will be investigated through theoretic readings. |
