Subject Description

This studio-based subject explores landscape and urban design principles and processes at the scale of a whole neighbourhood. Students will be asked to investigate the urban fabric and a set of inter-related open spaces, as well as to explore their potential social and environmental contribution at a local and a strategic level. Students will be exposed to further aspects of the design process, including the design development of a strategically targeted site. The symbolic dimension of spatial design in the public realm will be investigated through theoretic readings.

Assessment

Progressive assessment of project and written work, equivalent of not more than 5000 words.
