Subject Description

The objective of this subject is to present advanced concepts in spatial data acquisition.

The content includes standards and specifications of control surveys; operational and QA aspects of electronic distance measurement; trigonometric and precise levelling; automated instrumentation; laser scanning; introduction to map projections, geodesy and satellite positioning and an introduction to network design and adjustment.

Assessment

Not more than 3 hours of written examinations and tests, and not more than 100 pages of written assignments and reports on practical work. The relative weighting of the assessment components will be published at the commencement of the subject.
