37.5 points of second/third-year criminology subjects for third year. Admission to the postgraduate diploma or fourth-year honours in criminology or sociology.

This subject examines individual and organisational forms of white collar or corporate crime found in both the public and private sectors. Students should gain an understanding of the problems of definition of the various forms of business, occupational or corporate criminality, and an appreciation of their importance in the context of social life of the community. Students will be introduced to the forms of individual business or occupational crime, including such forms of financial crime as insider trading, and will learn some of the problems which concern the regulation of white collar crime, including the features of law which cause particular problems in the control of corporate misconduct.

An essay of 4000 words. Fourth-year students will complete an additional assessment equivalent to 1000 words. A final exam may substitute for part of the written work.
