Subject Description

This subject surveys applied anthropological work in Australia, Southeast Asia, the Pacific, Africa and the USA. Topics will include work in economic development, social impact assessment, medicine, education, international business and marketing, and the protection of ecosystems. Students who complete the subject successfully should be able to design individual career paths for working as anthropologists or using anthropological skills outside academia; understand how anthropologists can and do help solve practical problems at home and overseas; and work effectively on applied projects as members of multidisciplinary teams.
