Subject Description | This subject is intended to foster linguistic competence in a number of areas: oral-aural communication skills required in normal and professional life, in particular, for oral presentations (exposés, debates etc.); pronunciation, in particular, acquisition of native-like patterns of delivery; ability to write and translate (French-English, English-French) texts of various length, in different registers, in particular French academic writing. Students should complete the subject with a mastery of a wide range of vocabulary, related to the themes and genres studied in class; and an ability to analyse, discuss and use complex grammatical and discourse structures at sentence and text level. |
Assessment | A1.5-hour test and written and oral practical exercises totalling 3500 words. For mid-year entry students assessment will be as for 116-471 French IV: Honours Language II. |
