Subject Description

This subject provides students with intensive revision and further exploration of the major areas of the contemporary Italian language. The subject combines the analysis of structures, vocabulary and idiom with practical exercises designed to increase the students' linguistic competence in a variety of areas: comprehension, essay writing, spoken Italian. Students will also explore aspects of Italian culture, society and history. They will develop a critical capacity which will enable them to understand a variety of texts and documents (including films, music, mass media, contemporary literature). By the end of the subject students should have developed their spoken, written and comprehension skills.

Assessment

Two 1-hour written tests, class tests and written work totalling 1000 words and an essay of 1000 words.
