Prerequisites	110-241 Japanese 2A or equivalent. New students with prior language experience may not enrol unless they have taken a placement test in the week preceding the first week of semester.

Subject Description	This subject provides students with an opportunity to read and listen to authentic Japanese materials and learn to communicate on a range of topics. Students will learn a further 150 kanji (Chinese characters) and will be introduced to various aspects of Japanese culture. Computer laboratory or language laboratory instruction will support the curriculum.
Assessment	A 2-hour written examination (2000 words), a project (1600 words), and quizzes, oral and aural tests totaling 4400 words.
