Students who have completed 110-131 Spoken Chinese 3A, 110-132 Modern Chinese Prose, or 110-135 Chinese Composition and Correspondence are not eligible to enrol in this subject.

110-030 Spoken Introductory Chinese 2B and 110-029 Introductory Chinese 2B or equivalent as determined by the coordinator. New students may not enrol unless they have attended an interview and/or placement test in the week preceding the first week of semester.

Subject Description

This course builds on the knowledge already acquired by students in Chinese in Introductory Chinese 2B. Students should broaden their listening comprehension and speaking skills and gain confidence and independence in handling written Chinese language materials and in making the transition from textbook material to original Chinese texts.

Assessment

A 1-hour examination, a 30-minute listening comprehension test, a 10-minute oral test, assignments and/or tests totalling 1000 words, and class participation.
