110-143 Introductory Chinese 1A

Contact	A 1-hour lecture and three hours of language classes per week
Subject Description	This is an introductory course in Chinese for students with no previous knowledge of the language. By the end of this subject students should be familiar with the Pinyin system of romanisation and be able to read and write approximately 300 Chinese characters.
Assessment	Class participation, a 2-hour examination and assignments and/or tests totalling 2000 words.
