109-119 Beginners Ancient Biblical Hebrew B

Subject Description	In this subject, students revise the basic elements covered in semester one, continue with word formation and are introduced to more complex grammar and syntax, as well as some of the issues involved in interpreting an ancient language. Increasingly difficult texts of various genres are read, including some inscriptions of the biblical period. By the end of the subject, students should have a sufficient grasp of the language to read biblical texts with the assistance of reference works.
Assessment	Weekly vocabulary tests 10% and weekly exercises 30%, a mid-semester exam 30% and an end of semester exam 30% all equivalent to 4000 words.
