Subject Description

This subject will focus on the latest discoveries and debates in the archaeology of Bronze Age Greece. The material cultures will vary from year to year but issues will include rural vs urban archaeology, prehistoric production and trade, the meaning and emergence of social complexity in Greece, the identification and analysis of prehistoric belief systems, current controversies in the interpretation of archaeological remains.

Assessment

Tutorial participation 10%, a 2000-word seminar report 36% (due mid semester), a 3000-word essay 54% (end of semester).
