Prerequisites | Normally a result of H2A or above in 740-359 Musicological Research Method and permission of the Dean. Students are required to submit a written thesis proposal with a select bibliography to the coordinator before being allowed to enrol in the subject. |

Subject Description | Students will conceive, plan and execute a substantial research project; demonstrate a capacity to think originally and independently within the chosen area of musicology or ethnomusicology; show a command of both standard literature and writings at the current scholarly forefront of their chosen field; show the ability to apply musicological or ethnomusicological research methodologies rigorously and appropriately. |
Assessment | Two bound, typewritten copies of the dissertation are to be submitted for examination not later than the first day of the Semester 2 examination period. The final mark for this course will be determined solely by the dissertation (100%). |
