Subject Description | The aim of this subject is to introduce non-law students to legal concepts relating to the management of environmental issues. Broadly the topics of study will be as follows: management of natural resources, principles of environmental protection; and development controls. Through an examination of international, Federal, State and local government laws, regulations and policies relating to environmental issues, students will gain an understanding of the framework within which decisions concerning the environment are made. Students should be able to take with them to their own specific disciplines, a basic understanding of environmental law and management and an appreciation of how the environment is affected in some way by every human activity. |
Assessment | A 2500-word assignment and a 2-hour examination. |
