Subject Description | This subject adopts a theory-praxis approach. First, it examines the growth of Asian megacities within the context of Asia-Pacific urbanisation from various theoeretical perspectives. Second, using a hands-on planning approach, issues such as population, poverty, employment, social inequality and gender, colonial history, rural/urban migration, housing, environment, urban services, infrastructure and the integration of these cities into the global economy are addressed. |
Assessment | One major essay of 2800 words, group project and in class exercises. |
