Subject Description

This subject examines curriculum issues in health and physical education through the Curriculum and Standards Framework. Practical workshops and seminars focus upon the primary curriculum. Lecture topics include motor learning; paediatric exercise; school issues in human sexuality; swimming and water safety; nutrition; and an introduction to outdoor education.

Assessment

Written assignments totalling 3000 words (70%) and a 2-hour examination (30%).

Satisfactory participation and performance in seminars and practical classes is a hurdle requirement of this subject.
