Subject Description

This subject is a survey of primary mathematics curriculum content and investigation of teaching methodologies. Exploration of fundamental concepts, generalisations, skills and applications through investigations in number, measurement, and chance and data strands. The use of calculators and computers in teaching and for learning within these strands. Assessment techniques appropriate to primary school mathematics.

Assessment

Hurdle requirement: To gain a pass in this subject, students must satisfactorily complete a test of basic mathematics competence.

Written assignments equivalent in total to 2500 words and two 2-hour examinations, one at the end of each semester.
