Subject Description | The objective of this subject is for students to understand the principles and practice of database systems. Topics may include, but are not restricted to, data modelling for relational databases; query languages for databases such as SQL; database architectures and implementations; non-relational databases such as hierarchical, network and object-oriented databases; data integrity; data warehousing; data administration; and alternative organisational memory technologies such as groupware. On completion of this subject, students should be familiar with the use of databases within organisations; database design; database manipulation; and data administration. |
