Subject Description | Topics covered include the components of a civil or environmental engineering project; standard methods of measurement; case study description of a project; lessons from unsuccessful projects; the relationship between structural form and material behaviour; the relationship between material properties and micro-structure as applied to civil engineering materials and the engineering properties of masonry, steel, timber and reinforced concrete. |
Assessment | Two assignments of up to 3000 words each, or equivalent (40%) and a written examination not exceeding 3 hours (60%). |
