Subject Description | This subject will provide an overview of the Australian labour market and industrial relations systems. It considers developments in industrial relations theory and practice. Topics covered will include change and transformation in industrial relations; the history and role of unions; the future of unionism; employer strategy and human resource management; employer associations; industrial relations reform; the form and function of federal industrial legislation; enterprise bargaining; women in the workplace; industrial conflict; and industrial democracy. |
Assessment | A 2-hour end-of-semester examination (70%) and assignments totalling 2500 words (30%). |
