Subject Description | Topics to be studied may include Japan as an economic superpower; the economic reform in China; the Asian Tigers; the transformation of agrarian economies to industrial and science-based economies; population growth; the generation of savings; investment and technological change; the role of multinational enterprises; the relationships between the state, bureaucracy and business; industrial and trade policies; Asian societies and the consequences for management and labour relations; and export led industrialisation. |
Assessment | A 2-hour end-of-semester examination (60%), a multiple choice test (10%) and an essay totalling not more than 3000 words (30%). |
