Subject Description

This subject is designed to provide students with a firm foundation in the language covering all four skill areas: listening, speaking, reading and writing. Particular emphasis will be placed on listening and speaking. All courses will be taught through a communicative approach using up-to-date audio-visual materials. Classes will include work in the language laboratory. On completion of the subject students should be able to communicate in the language in everyday situations, understand slightly more complex speech, read simple texts and write short compositions.

Assessment

Oral and written class exercises, two 1-hour tests, two 10-minute oral tests, and a 2-hour exam. Students are required to attend all classes to be eligible to sit for the final examination.
