Subject Description | This subject is an advanced seminar which reviews the theory and practice of government-business relations in Australia and elsewhere. The subject will identify contemporary development and case examples which familiarise students with the theoretical, practical and normative issues at stake for both sides of this important relationship. Students who complete this subject should have an advanced understanding of theories and concepts of power and influence as they impact upon the relationship between government and business; examined the unique character of this relationship in Australia as viewed through contemporary case studies; developed skills in the research and analysis of this set of issues and concepts; and developed an understanding of the impact of this relationship on wider questions of economic growth, employment and democratic control. |
