This subject is an introduction to the international politics of the Asia-Pacific region. There is some focus on debates about the roles of the three major powers in the region (the US, China and Japan) and their relationships with each other. The issues selected for study can vary from year to year but will normally be selected from Taiwan, Korea, Indochina, Indonesia, regionalism and the new international agenda. Students who complete this subject should have an understanding of the international politics of the Asia-Pacific with particular reference to roles of the US, China and Japan and selected contemporary issues.
