Usually admission to an MA program in public history, history or gender studies. Students completing a postgraduate diploma or fourth-year honours in history or public history who wish to enrol should seek approval from the subject coordinator.

Weekly supervision sessions with designated reading course supervisor as arranged. Students may also be encouraged to attend a 2-hour seminar each week

Subject Description

This subject involves a supervised study of an area of scholarship chosen by the student in consultation with an appointed supervisor. A reading list will be agreed upon and discussed regularly during the semester as the reading proceeds. The subject should enhance the student's powers of independent inquiry, should encourage initiative in self-directed research, and should strengthen the student's capacities in theoretical analysis and argument.

Assessment

Written work totalling 5000 words.
