Students who complete the subject should have an understanding of issues such as battle and home-front experiences and their interaction, the growth and nature of an Australian war tradition, the long-term impact of war upon social relations, notions of national identity, ideas of Australia's place in the world, the course of the Anzac legend, and critical responses to the Anzac legend in the context of Australian traditions of myth-making and dissent.
