Subject Description

This subject examines the origins of the reputation of Melbourne as the sporting capital of Australia and students will conduct interviews in order to investigate the relationship between the spectator and performance and the influence of the media in the development of the sporting spectacle. On completion of this subject students will be able to reflect critically upon the role of the spectator, the changing social and economic context in which sport is produced and will also contribute to an on-line archive.
