European studies students wishing to enrol in this subject would normally have completed first-year European studies, see Prerequisites.

This subject is an introduction to the literature and culture of early Scandinavia. On completion of this subject students should have gained an understanding of the history and culture of Scandinavia during the Viking era and have been introduced to the language of the Vikings.
