Formerly available as 110-148. Students who have completed 110-148 are not eligible to enrol in this subject.

110-133 Introduction to Literary Chinese and 110-034 Chinese News Analysis and either 110-123 Chinese 2B or 110-162 Introductory Chinese 3A or equivalent.

This subject will develop students' ability to handle Chinese texts and oral Chinese over a wide range of subject matter. Scope will include official documents, discussion papers on current affairs, academic and popular scientific articles, and literary works. Students are expected to develop skills in translation, writing in Chinese and oral presentation, both formal and informal. They will be introduced to a range of reference tools used by professional translators.

Tutorial participation and written work totalling 4000 words for 3rd year, 5000 words for 4th year.
