Due to overlap in subject content, students who have completed 110-466 Virtual Reality Chinese are not eligible to enrol in this subject. Special entry conditions apply, students must consult the subject coordinator for further information. A quota of 25 students applies.

Subject Description

Students will learn to read local and on-line Chinese documents on a computer by encoding with different characters sets. They will also learn the Chinese character input methods on various commonly used applications, such as MS Word, MS Excel, Clarisworks, Netscape Composer and Netscape Messenger. Students will explore on-line Chinese communications including writing and receiving email in Chinese, and participating in on-line Chinese discussions. Students are expected to do an oral presentation using an appropriate application.
